Winning Hands In Poker Games

1. Royal Flush

2. Straight Flush

The straight of five cards of the same suit. In case of two Straight Flush hands the strongest and thus winning hand is the hand with strongest top card. Aces may be used to show up the highest Straight Flush (A-K-Q-J-10), that is the Royal Flush, and the lowest Straight Flush (A-2-3-4-5).

3. Four of a kind

Four of a Kind contains any four cards of the same rank, for instance, four Aces. Four of a Kind is also known as the "quads" and in some European countries it may be called the "poker", although such name is not very widespread. Among two Four of a Kind poker hands the hand with the best four cards wins.

4. Full House

Three cards of one value and two cards with another rank, for instance, three eights and two Aces. To check the strength of the Full Houses the rank of three cards is taken into consideration first, then the pairs are compared.

5. Flush

Flush has five cards of different rank but of one suit. In two Flush winning hands in poker play the best card shows the best hand if there is the tie.

6. Straight

Five unsuited cards in sequence. The Straight with the stronger top card is winning in case two such hands tie.

7. Three of a Kind

This poker hand consists of three cards of the same rank. Sometimes this hand is called the Triplets or Trips. When hands tie the sets of three equal cards are checked for the highest rank, then two distinct cards may be used to indicate the winning hand.

8. Two Pairs

The hand that contains two pairs of cards, in which every pair is two cards with the same rank. Among two such hands the one with the highest pair is winning regardless the value of another pair. If the top pairs are equal then another pair determines the winner. Finally the distinct card shows the highest hand.

9. Pair

This poker hand consists of a pair of the same value and three other cards which differ in value and suit. The Pair hand with stronger pair is considered to be the winner. The rest distinct cards matter if the pairs coincide in rank.

10. High Card

This is the hand of five cards that does not have any of the mentioned above card combinations. Among two or several these hands the top card is taken into account. High Card is considered to be the weakest hand among all winning hands in poker games.
